(More customer reviews)I used this to change color on 2 motorcycle seats. It was easy enough to use and the results were OK, except that where the leather and vinyl wrinkle from sitting the original color soon began to show through, as if it flaked off along the creases. Supposedly the "dye" penetrates the leather or vinyl and permanently changes the color, but it appears to me to be more like paint than dye. Using on parts like door panels and padded dashboards that aren't subject to much flex would probably give better results than using it on seats. Still, my seats look better than they did and it was a whole lot cheaper than having them recovered.

It is ideal for use on stiff or pliable vinyl, simulated leather or plastic. VHT Vinyl dye is not a paint but a true dye, which permanently changes the color of the substrate. It is extremely resistant to cracking or fading. Careful preparation is essential and all traces of dirt, silicone products, vinyl and rubber protectants, oils and greases must be removed. Incomplete preparation will not produce a satisfactory result. Follow all label instructions on each can and use with extra care as dyes are permanent. VHT vinyl dyes dries to the touch in 30 minutes and thoroughly overnight. No curing is required.
